Tom,
You are correct. With the goggles in series there is almost total
darkness except for the faint light from a lightbulb or from the
windows. When looking outside the house I can see the silhouette of
trees and houses against the bright sky. I can also see some objects
that reflect sunlight (e.g. the white roof a car) but not much else.
